This everyone everywhere band not only writes musically wonderful songs, but their lyrics are among the most universally relatable hymns I’ve heard in rock music in a long time. I don’t use that word lightly, these songs are all ‘hymns’ not in the sense of in relation to a god -but more importantly- our often forgotten mysterious 3D physical reality itself.
EE would probably be like, “man, we just play whatever the heck comes out,” but as far as my listening perception goes, it brings me into a mental space that only things like long nature expeditions and hallucinogenic drugs have led me to. I don’t condone the use of drugs, because any ‘breakthrough, realization’ what-have-you is perfectly obtainable naturally through deep thought and observation. I guess it makes sense that these guys recorded their first “music video” fittingly wearing lab-coats.
I find it quite incredible that these dudes speak to these themes with ease throughout an entire LP using rather simple language. I can’t quite remember feeling this way towards any other music I have ever listened to besides a select few old/odd classics. It surprises me that a band with no pretensions and an ability to convey such universal feelings isn’t more popular. Popularity doesn’t make a band better or worse obviously. I think a band’s ability to relate to a wide range of people, however, really speaks to a band’s ability to create music.
Their latest LP also perfectly addresses the nature of the world in 2012 in which everyone genuinely contemplated the end of the world at least once. Check this album out if you want to hear something rockin’, poppy, and thoughtful. Their band-name is definitely a lot more fitting than its ever been.

This was taken moments before Parrot was murdered by the cop. The cop drove his knee into the middle of Parrot’s back while stretching Parrot’s forelegs behind him, as one would do with an armed criminal. Without waiting to determine whether this technique would calm Parrot, the cop grabbed Parrot, lifted him off the ground, and brought him to the top of the concrete staircase.He threw Parrot over the banister, down twelve steps, and onto the concrete floor. Then, the cop stood at the top of the stairs, drew his weapon, and executed Parrot. Aaron, the animal’s owner, cannot recall the number of shots fired. Witnesses state that Parrot was not harming anybody and was simply frightened by the cop. At no time did Parrot try to bite the officer, all he did was start barking.
It doesn’t matter if you are a part of an Occupy movement, PETA, Republican, Democrat, Independent Religious or not, if you are a part of the human race this should be a wake up call that something is very wrong with our society.

This is a really kick ass BTS song that will probably show up on their new album. These dudes basically just put together a huge music festival in Boise with a huge amount of acts including Oakland/Cincinasty’s Why? I hope they do it again next year.
They played all three nights, first playing their first LP in full Ultimate Alternative Wavers which features one song thats like 9-10 minutes that they had to relearn. That album came out 20 years ago. The 2nd night was a normal set, and the 3rd night was a cover set including covers of Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Smiths, but I’m most excited to find their versions of Here by Pavement and the amazing Sludgefeast by Dinosaur Jr. I’ll post em’ once they show up online. Here is by far one of my favorite songs to sing and play on guitar.
